So, for those #3dprinting folks out there, news time! Qidi has stated that they hope to release the Qidi box, the multi-color and multi-material capable box by June of 2025. People are speculating that Qidi is developing the box so that it is able to heat and dry filament for those filaments requiring that kind of care, (PLA is pretty much the only exclusion.) There are two kinds of functional 3Dprint designers.

- I printed my knee mill chassis in vase mode, and it only uses 0.03 grams of PLA.

- This box holds almost 5 grams of eiderdown, so I printed it with 12 perimeters and 80% infill in carbon fiber polycarbonate.

In my garage, I have a small box (about 9 inches wide) that I built with a french cleat on the back to hang on the wall, to shield an 8 port POE switch and a small power strip. All the recent YouTube traffic on 10" wide racks made me think "hey, I could design some 3d printed slats to make this look nicer." I made a simple plate that holds a single keystone as a test, and a holder for a TP Link switch. #3dprinting

I have a filament that is a perfect color match for something I sell. It’s quite brittle for some reason and breaks regularly in my AMS, meaning I have to take it apart to clear the block.

I saw with the AMS 2 that the area to do that is now exposed… which gave me an idea.

Cut a hole in the correct area and put a surround around it to tidy it up and it’s done :)

New 3D Model!
I just finished one of my most difficult low poly models: A dragon. But instead of creating one design, i made it modular. By combining different parts like wings, horns, feet, different tail spikes and two body types (a short "dragon" and a longer "lung dragon" type), you can create more than 240 different versions.

Biggest ABS print on record for me. Took just shy of four hours, and is basically the full Z height of my printer.

Not a flawless print, due to a noticeable tear in the perimeters (which you can just about see), unfortunately, but no warping or delamination.

I made a new 3D-model. Letter beads! They fit nicely over drawstrings and are big enough to make cute key rings. They also look really cool without top and bottom layers, that way the infill shows.
I included my openSCAD script, so if someone wants a different font or size, that can be easily achieved.
