"The nationalist not only does not disapprove of atrocities committed by his own side, but he has a remarkable capacity for not even hearing about them."
- George Orwell (1945)
@Loukas that's definitely a kind of nationalist that exists, but do see some people who i think 'eh a little too pro NATO' who do know about it. Or disapprove, but 'both sides' it.
I think nationalism is bad, period, but there.
@jasper the people you're talking about, what are they nationalists for? Nato?
@Loukas at least one person calls "NaPo"s Nationalist Populists. _These_ would be "against" NATO and EU. And for Nexit and such. (But read they're sortah u-turning on that since it's so obviously bad now.)
Maybe it's confusing to call pro-NATO people nationalists. Maybe imperialists is more apt.. But even if technically nationalism for multiple states, it's authoritarian support, completely flying in the face of reason, for state power.
Edit: Edited for non-existent clarity.
@jasper Thank you, I understand now. I think it's reasonable to use Orwell's concept of nationalism for people who are pro-Nato as well. After all, he'd certainly use it for people who supported USSR, which was also a multinational organisation.
