Elon Musk attempts to turn Germany fascist by appearing at the AfD party convention this weekend.
How many members of the Bundestag are still using X, thereby supporting his ad revenue?
And all over Europe: If your country has parliament members still on X, ask them why they support the ad revenue of a guy who is spreading fascism.
@randahl X and Elon Musk is in a spiral of getting more and more extreme each day. Why isn't someone closing it down?
@johansaxe@mastodon.nu @randahl@mastodon.social I don't think any government in Europe has thought or dared to think about closing X yet
@lars @johansaxe I think we may see a reaction towards misinformation from the EU in 2025, but rallying a political majority takes time.
The parliament already adopted the Digital Service Act in 2022, which makes it illegal not to moderate social media content.
Now they just have to enforce the law.
@randahl@mastodon.social @johansaxe@mastodon.nu As slow as some of the bureaucracy is, it will still take some time, especially as the majority of the countries still have to agree for anything to happen at EU level.
