Here are some other animals that I also have had the pleasure of keeping.
I got my first pet snake when I was 12 years old, a garter snake that I named Henry. For about 25 years after that, I kept and bred many species of reptiles, and among them, a pair of Borneo Short-tailed Pythons. They produced offspring twice, one of which is pictured here. The second picture shows their mother.

I don't keep snakes currently, as I prefer to focus on keeping arachnids now, and mainly tarantulas, but I did enjoy keeping snakes and other reptiles for so many years. It's an exciting and fun hobby that I can recommend for those who have to time and space to do so.

Several answers…

Raccoons are mostly on the beach sites. Never seen them on/near chickees. They are after both food and fresh water.

Wildlife researchers say 90+% of the small mammals in the #Everglades are gone due to the #pythons! I don’t think this applies to the beach raccoons tho.

Lane Bay is a great place to camp!

Just to be clear: #Hobie still sells the “Revolution 13” #kayak model. Drive is much improved. I recommend anyone who is considering buying one to “downgrade” to the standard drive (does not have reverse). The reversible drive costs more, adds little value, and has many small moving parts that are impossible to maintain in the field.

Python alert -- not the coding kind.

"#Pythons thrive in warm climate — which is why they've quickly adapted here in the Everglades — and they keep spreading; milder winters have led to sightings further north."

Just realized I never answered my own question.

My projects currently are pretty much listed above, #homeassistant automating everything, #lockpicking everything I can get my hands on and learning to make my own #locksport tools, #code (hard to avoid this one, it's what I do for a living, and that spills over into my "off-duty" time regularly lol), #electronics isn't one I've messed with much lately, but I'd constructed a small army of esp32 gadgets (both #esphome use and otherwise) to automate various things around the house, I have a small #wireguard / #ospf / #bgp "internal network" (based primarily on #OpenBSD) between my "points of presence" and a few friends' "points of presence" on the internet, and #infosec has always been a passion of mine, even though my career sadly diverged from it a long time ago.

I also raise #pythons and other #snakes, and spend a significant portion of my day ensuring my kids get the #STEM education they need to succeed (which few if any schools can provide).

This 'Machan' at #PilibhitTigerReserve is not a lookout for #Tigers but serves as an observation post to detect forest-fires.
A romantic getaway near the #BrarBrothers farms at #Puranpur in the #Pilibhit district of #Terai region of #UttarPradesh #India
The #ShardaCanal flows along the road.

The entry to the forest is restricted to protect the #Wildlife which includes #Leopards #Pythons #Bears #Deers #Crocodiles etc.
