Famous German TV-host Anja Reschke conducted a powerfulfive broadcast dedicated to International Women's Day. She took a bouquet of roses from her desk saying, "These flowers deserve a better place," & placed it at an improvised memorial in memory of women who died at the hands of their husbands or partners in 2024-2025. On the screen, the date of death, city & age of the victim were displayed. In Germany, every 2 days, a woman dies from violence by her partner or ex-partner. Every 3 minutes ->

Femicide is a global problem & we cannot stay silent about it. It’s a day of solidarity for women & a fight for women’s rights. Women make up approximately 49.6% of the world's population. This can vary slightly depending on source & the specific year of the data, but it's around this figure. The global population is about 8 billion, so there’s about 4 billion women in the world.
